The Rijnstedeband is placed in the Honours Division in the Marching Contest section and in the First Division of the Stage Contest section.

Rijnstedeband Huissen
The band consists of 40 musicians and competes in the KNFM’s (Royal Dutch Marching Band Association) Honours Division. It performs both locally and at festive occasions in Germany, Belgium and Austria. Rijnstedeband’s strong points are Street parades and Float Shows. Since 2004 a show has become available which is presented at tattoo shows.

History
Rijnstedeband was established in 1988 after a merger between two show bands from the Dutch cities Arnhem and Huissen. The initiative for establishing the new band was taken by then-conductor (now honorary conductor) Mr G. van Hagen. He led both small bands, and a merger was a good idea. The city of Huissen was chosen as residence. Both Arnhem and Huissen are located on the banks of the river Rhine, making the name Rijnstedeband very appropriate!

The Rijnstedeband was a success from its beginning. It placed quickly in the Honours Division in the Marching Contest section and in the First Division of the Stage Contest section. In both sections the band attained the Championship position in its class. We also participated in the World Music Contest in Kerkrade. Rijnstedeband is a member of the Koninklijke Nederlandse Federatie van Muziekverenigingen (KNFM).
